IKEA platforms to connect to more of the many people

Retailing is changing fast and IKEA is taking the next steps to grow in the new retail world that is characterized by ever-changing customer behaviours all over the world .

By adding digital platforms to our omnichannel IKEA concept we can reach and interact with more of the many people where they are and improve their shopping experience.

The assignment is to develop the IKEA Platform Approach to reach people where they are; to reach and interact with the many individuals so that they become IKEA fans and/or part of an IKEA loyalty club; and  to drive traffic to IKEA websites/stores.

How?

  • by co-developing strategy, content areas and customer journeys
  • by co-developing partner setup, process and evaluation
  • By developing platform setup as a part of the IKEA Franchise system
  • by sharing, learning and co-developing the platform, marketplace(s) along the way
  • by conceptualising and making it available for all current and future franchisees where relevant.

Job description

Curious about the role Platform Strategy Leader?

With the strong desire to be up-to-date about emerging technologies and new digital platform trends, you are able to provide thought leadership and perspective, for adoption of these technologies and/ or trends where appropriate, and develop/deliver a platform strategy that works within the IKEA franchise system and IKEA franchise setup, with key responsibilities to:

  • Develop and execute the IKEA long-term IKEA Platform approach, strategy and vision
  • Develop IKEA Platform long-term planning and initiatives as part of IKEA digital roadmap
  • Set & communicate principles regarding IKEA platforms and to take platform design decisions
  • Manage stakeholder engagement in the development of new processes, opportunities & capabilities within the IKEA eco-systems.
  • Develop the way of working with strategic partners in the platform eco system setup
  • Define a way to incorporate platforms as a part of an omnichannel experience.

What we expect you to bring with you?

  • Have an extensive hands-on experience of working with one or many major platform setups on a both strategic and tactical level
  • Have an extensive hands-on experience of building and developing platform user communities
  • Experience in change management and leading influentially
  • Strong commitments to IKEA values and home furnishing business.
  • Knowledge and experience of platform business operation
  • Knowledge of design thinking, innovation and lean development processes.
  • Knowledge of or deep interest in the IKEA Range Strategy, the IKEA Concept, the IKEA vision and business idea, IKEA culture & values and the IKEA business model.
  • Knowledge of or deep interest in the IKEA franchise system

Qualification
  • Proven long-term positive financial/people and/or process impact with Digital capability initiative(s)
  • 3+ years of experience with Digital technologies & platforms
  • Knowledge & experience with Customer Digital platforms and Ecosystems
  • Business Plan Development, Execution & Change Management
  • Product Life Cycle Management including Innovation
  • Strong communicator at team- and stakeholder level
  • Recent experience from omnichannel retailing or similar experience
