Digital Expansion Project Leader

As a person, you are passionate about the possibilities of digital to delight and inspire to adopt new digital products rapidly. • You have strong documented leadership skills and a successful track record of IT management and technological change, especially in driving digital and IT Expansion projects across multiple countries
• You are a true digital ambassador who can communicate in a clear and user-friendly way
• You have a deep understanding of how to set up, manage and execute a successful rollout of digital products and deliver results in a country
• You have a deep understanding of project management techniques and processes, and (preferably) you are a certified project manager (ITIL, Prince2, or PMI certified)
• You have a deep understanding of change management techniques and digital transformation practices
• You have a deep understanding of business in retail and eCommerce to be able to drive the reinvention of the business
• You have an overview of hard-IT, such as LAN, WLAN network planning, digital kiosks, logistics automation, etc.
• You align with IKEA‘s identity, core values, and vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people
• You possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trustful relationships with stakeholders of different seniority levels across the organization and across countries
• Furthermore, you actively acquire new knowledge and skills and champion new methods and processes to improve performance.
• You have a good overview of local IT vendors on the Hungarian market and the ability to negotiate fair terms and conditions
• You are flexible for traveling within the region (approx. 20-30%)
• You are fluent in both written and spoken Hungarian and English
• You are able to work as a supplier (contractor) for IKEA and invoice on a monthly basis


As a Digital Project Leader, you will drive the development, provision, and operation of our digital products and services through new and existing technology and agile delivery methods to deliver at pace, with a special focus on new Expansion and Development projects.

You will:
• be responsible for assembling the relevant cross-functional deployment team, with a special focus on IT expansion and digital transformation of IKEA stores
• plan, manage, and monitor digital initiatives/activities required to ensure a successful launch
• lead gap assessment - Identifying key dependencies for countries and ensuring country readiness for the launch
• orchestrate across relevant teams to resolve major incidents in flow, keep track of status and progress and communicate the progress to affected stakeholders
• ensure work package components with technical dependencies are ready to execute for the launch
• perform project reporting through providing key milestones updates and content for measuring and following up project quality and performance
• plan, manage, and deliver other assigned projects, e.g., IT expansion, including time, cost, scope, and quality. Identify, mitigate, monitor, and control risks
• supervise and support on-site project implementation of new Digital products
• prepare budget inputs and secure procurement of needed hardware, software, and services
