Now is your opportunity to join as a Product UX Design Director to influence the creation of digital experiences for billions of customers and 166,000+ coworkers around the world. We are building a Digital Experience Design organization from scratch, and we need seasoned UX Design and people leaders to join us to drive maturity, define processes, and lead the creation and delivery of world-class human-centered design solutions.

You are passionate about people and design, with a personal driver to be the enabler of other’s personal and craftmanship growth

You will team up with Head of Product, Head of Engineering and Data Directors where you are jointly responsible for a subset of products and the empowerment of cross-functional teams

You will manage Product UX discovery, strategy, design direction and delivery for your responsibility areas, in order to deliver excellent and unique IKEA digital experiences across all touchpoints

You will drive a deep understanding of the user through leading and directing various iterative user research methodologies in order to create relevant solutions for our users

You will define Experience Design best practices by continually benchmarking against industry standards to continuously validate and improve deliverables

To succeed in the role, we see that you have experience in many of the following:

• Creating an atmosphere of positivity, empathy, and compassion to foster psychological safety, connection and collaboration.

• Extensive knowledge in leading and managing all aspects of Digital Product UX Design

• Extensive experience in leading, managing, coaching, developing senior and product UX designers promoting individual growth and mentorship. Previous people management experience is a must

• Growing design maturity and understanding of the value of human-centred design across an organisation and empowering design work in product teams

• Extensive knowledge of leading and working in an agile, highly collaborative team of product, tech, and data co-workers

• Strong communications skills and extensive knowledge in driving human-centred design methods and approaches into a cross-functional team

• Strong skillset in advocating and proving the business value of design

You have a strong and compelling leadership portfolio communicating your leadership beliefs, capabilities, notable career achievements, case studies of your leadership skills, projects your teams have delivered, and more

The team has a clear vision: to create everyday digital experiences for the many people through our human-centric methodologies that enable design, inspiration and innovation.


This role reports to the Head of Product UX Design and is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Our organization has coworkers in Amsterdam, Sweden, Madrid, Shanghai and Philadelphia.
