This is our wish list! If you don’t recognize yourself in all these points, you might still be an excellent candidate for the role. We like to think long-term and invest in people’s development together with us.

What you'll be doing day to day

IKEA is taking huge steps in its digital transformation and our Data Engineers are working in cross-functional teams to transform IKEA into a more data driven company by building and supporting state-of-the-art data products and analytic decisions.

As a Data Engineer, you will be driving the development of data products within an area of our Fulfilment, or Inventory & Logistics Operations domains. Here, we are building the systems and tools to enable our world-class supply chain to become even better and enable the journey towards an omnichannel retailer.

You will work hands-on to build data pipelines in our data mesh on Google Cloud Platform, and to find solutions to questions like:

• How do we design, build, test and maintain data products and cloud-based services to promote data consumption?
• How should we extract, merge, transform and serve data to enable usage at a global scale?
• How can we implement data models, schemas and pipelines to satisfy user needs and non-functional requirements?
• What should we add to our evolving software library of custom-built large-scale data processing tools to empower our Data Analysts and Scientists?
• How can we ensure the reliability and quality of the data, and how do we educate team members in cross-functional teams about the importance of it?

And perhaps you have your own ideas on problems to solve? We are on a journey towards becoming a data-driven company and you will have the opportunity to help shape our path, based on your knowledge and experience.

Our team within Ikea

You will join the Data & Analytics Order Promise team within the Fulfilment domain at IKEA Group Digital, together with other Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Stewards and Data Architects. Together, you will be joining cross-functional teams consisting of colleagues from Technology, Product, and Design, that design, implements and deploys products that solve business problems. Your job will include a mix of understanding business needs, designing data solutions – and of course, writing code!

IKEA has long been a global leader in home furnishing. We are proud of our vision to improve the everyday life of the many people. But our industry is quickly changing, and we need to adapt to stay competitive.

As part of IKEA’s journey to strengthen our digital capabilities, we are building a Data & Analytics function. This team is working on problems across the company, ranging from customer modelling, pricing, online shopping, visual intelligence to logistics optimisation.

We see so many opportunities for what we can accomplish and have the ambition to be a world class team. At the same time, we believe that our work is not just about building things, but also about learning and having fun together.

We can offer you:
• Work on some very interesting problems as described above, and you are encouraged to spot new opportunities or to collaborate with Data & Analytics colleagues in other specialist teams.
• Opportunities to have global impact with your work.
• Flexible and modern tools: We deploy on Google Cloud Platform and we use a lot of open source tools across the board.
• Hardware and OS of your choice.
• A team of great colleagues to learn with and from (with world-class experience across all aspects of Data & Analytics).
• Continuous learning (we aim to spend 20% of our working time on learning).
• Flexible and friendly working environment.
• Modern and well-equipped office in our new Digital Hub that will house up to 500 co-workers, located in the harbour area north-west of Amsterdam’s city centre.

At IKEA we strongly believe that we can help people and the planet, while creating an affordable and better everyday life at home.
We believe that it is our responsibility together to find a greater purpose and create space to innovate. We believe that innovation comes from daring to fail; these stories inspire us to explore and dare to try again.
We believe that we thrive when meeting incredible people that are on the same mission at IKEA. People who are very humble, supportive, and absolutely committed to lead into the future and create a better life for more of the many people by putting the customer and their homes at the heart of all we do.
